Core Concepts
ReadingFace
Also: ReadingFace System, RF
A precision personality compatibility system that identifies optimal relationship matches among 32 distinct subtypes. Unlike traditional 16-type systems, ReadingFace recognizes that each type has two subtypes with different energy patterns, creating 78% increased energy in matched pairs.
Example: "Using ReadingFace, I discovered I'm ILE-Ne, not just ILE, which explains why my match with SEI-Fe works so much better than with SEI-Si."
Subtype
Also: Vertical Subtype, Contact/Inert Variant
One of two variants of each personality type, determined by which vertical block (contact or inert) is energetically enhanced. Each of the 16 types has exactly 2 subtypes, creating 32 total subtypes in the ReadingFace system. Subtypes are named after their type and enhanced function (e.g., ILE-Ne or ILE-Ti).
Example: "ILE has two subtypes: ILE-Ne (inert enhanced) and ILE-Ti (contact enhanced). They have different optimal matches and energy patterns."
Duality
Also: Dual Relationship, Perfect Match, Optimal Pairing
The optimal compatibility relationship between two specific subtypes where complementary function blocks create maximum energetic resonance. In ReadingFace, there are 16 precision duality pairs, each producing 78% energy increase after interaction.
Example: "The duality between ILE-Ne and SEI-Fe creates the Explorer-Harmonizer dynamic with bright, expansive energy."
Subtypes & Types
Contact Subtype
Also: Contact Enhanced, Producing Subtype
A subtype where the contact block functions (2, 3, 5, 8) are energetically enhanced. These subtypes actively engage with the external environment and show stronger expression of their creative, role, suggestive, and demonstrative functions.
Example: "ILE-Ti is a contact subtype with enhanced Ti creative function, making them more systematically engaged than ILE-Ne."
Inert Subtype
Also: Inert Enhanced, Accepting Subtype
A subtype where the inert block functions (1, 4, 6, 7) are energetically enhanced. These subtypes process information internally with greater intensity and show stronger expression of their leading, vulnerable, mobilizing, and ignoring functions.
Example: "ILE-Ne is an inert subtype with enhanced Ne leading function, creating more intense internal possibility exploration."
Cognitive Functions
Ne - Extraverted Intuition
Also: Intuition of Possibilities, Ideas, Potential
The cognitive function that perceives possibilities, potential, and connections between disparate concepts. Ne sees what could be, generates alternatives, and explores conceptual landscapes. Values innovation and novelty.
Example: "High Ne constantly asks 'What if?' and sees multiple possibilities in every situation."
Ti - Introverted Thinking
Also: Structural Logic, Analysis, Systems
The cognitive function that creates internal logical frameworks and analyzes structural relationships. Ti seeks logical consistency, precise definitions, and systematic understanding. Values accuracy and coherence.
Example: "Ti creates precise categories and ensures every piece of information fits logically within the system."
Fe - Extraverted Feeling
Also: Emotional Expression, Ethics of Emotions, Atmosphere
The cognitive function that manages emotional atmosphere and creates shared emotional experiences. Fe expresses emotions openly, reads group mood, and influences emotional climate. Values harmony and emotional connection.
Example: "Fe naturally knows how to lift the mood of a room and make everyone feel included."
Si - Introverted Sensing
Also: Comfort, Physical Harmony, Sensory Experience
The cognitive function that processes internal physical sensations and maintains comfort. Si notices subtle sensory details, creates physical harmony, and values familiar comfort. Focuses on internal bodily states and well-being.
Example: "Si creates cozy environments and knows exactly what makes the body feel comfortable and at ease."
Function Blocks
Contact Block
Also: Contact Functions, External Functions
The set of functions (2, 3, 5, 8) that actively engage with the external environment. These functions adapt and integrate new experiences, are capable of improvement over time, and represent how we "touch" the world around us.
Example: "My contact block functions are how I actively interact with and influence my environment."
Inert Block
Also: Inert Functions, Internal Functions
The set of functions (1, 4, 6, 7) that process information internally without actively integrating environmental input. These functions remain relatively stable in strength and represent our core natural abilities and weaknesses.
Example: "My inert block contains my most confident strengths and stubborn weaknesses."
Accepting vs Producing
A dichotomy separating functions by information processing style. Accepting functions (1, 3, 5, 7) continuously take in information without internal tension. Producing functions (2, 4, 6, 8) create new information products and are felt as more effortful.
Quadras
Quadra
Also: Quadrant, Value Group
A group of four personality types that share the same valued functions and create a unique social atmosphere. The four quadras are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, each valuing a different combination of functions.
Example: "Alpha quadra values Ne, Ti, Si, and Fe, creating harmonious exploration dynamics."
Subtype Quadra
Also: Sub-Quadra, Precision Quadra
A group of four specific subtypes that form a more precise social unit within a traditional quadra. Each traditional quadra splits into two subtype quadras (A and B) with distinct energy signatures.
Example: "Alpha Quadra A includes ILE-Ne, SEI-Fe, LII-Ti, and ESE-Si, creating a vibrant collective energy."
Relationships
Energy Increase
Also: Energetic Resonance, Energy Optimization
The measurable increase in subjective energy levels after interaction with a compatible partner. Precision duality pairs in ReadingFace create 78% energy increase, while non-optimal matches average only 34%.
Example: "After spending time with my dual, I feel 78% more energized rather than drained."
Complementarity
The principle where one partner's enhanced functions naturally support the other's subdued functions. In optimal matches, inert-enhanced subtypes pair with contact-enhanced subtypes for perfect energy flow.
Energy Dynamics
Enhanced (+)
Also: Strengthened, Augmented, Plus
Describes functions that receive increased energy in a particular subtype. Enhanced functions operate with greater intensity and natural ease. Marked with a plus sign (+) in ReadingFace notation.
Example: "In ILE-Ne, the Ne function is enhanced (Ne+), creating intense possibility exploration."
Subdued (-)
Also: Weakened, Diminished, Minus
Describes functions that receive decreased energy in a particular subtype. Subdued functions operate with less intensity and require more effort. Marked with a minus sign (-) in ReadingFace notation.
Example: "In ILE-Ne, the Fi function is subdued (Fi-), creating less intense personal value judgments."
Advanced Concepts
Analytical Functions
Positions 1 & 7 (Leading & Ignoring)
Functions that combine accepting + inert traits. These constantly analyze information internally but show limited external expression. Include the leading and ignoring functions.
Manipulative Functions
Positions 2 & 8 (Creative & Demonstrative)
Functions that combine producing + contact traits. These are the most flexible and externally visible functions, easily creating and modifying information products for the environment.
Absorbing Functions
Positions 3 & 5 (Role & Suggestive)
Functions that combine accepting + contact traits. These actively absorb information from the environment without preliminary analysis or evaluation.
Formulaic Functions
Positions 4 & 6 (Vulnerable & Mobilizing)
Functions that combine producing + inert traits. These create rigid internal templates and imperatives that the person applies somewhat inflexibly.
